This beautiful Sri Lankan house is a quiet sanctuary only 25 minutes away from the airport by car, just 6 kms north of Colombo and 10 mins from the highway leading to the south of the island.
It's the perfect place to base a holiday; particularly for those who want, see family, do their own thing or stay for longer periods. It's conveniently located for excursions North to the Cultural Triangle, Mannar, Jaffna etc., East to Kandy and the Hill Country and south to Galle and beyond.

Wattala is a safe, lively suburb just 5 kms north of Colombo. Since very few tourists visit the area, you'll meet local Sri Lankans going about their daily lives. You will be treated with friendly kindness and generosity wherever you go AND you'll only pay local prices!
There are a variety of good quality restaurants, International, Sri Lankan, Indian and Chinese. All are very reasonably priced. Colombo, 6 kms south, has every type of restaurant and bar you could want.
(Please IGNORE the Bookingdotom "AI"generated descriptions below; concernng Ratmalana Airport, Bamblapitya Station and and the 'Tower' - the details are completely WRONG and Bookingdotcom seem unable/unwilling to correct them).
The house has its own large garden and pool (6m X 4.5m). For a half day excursion to the beach we recomend the Pegasus Reef Hotel (15 mins by 3-wheeler) which also has large pool. Sri Lanka's first (in 1968!) 4 star hotel, it also has very reasonable fish and Sri Lankan buffet restaurants. For a whole day beach excursion, we'd recomend going to Negumbo (30 mins by taxi), the nearest 'tourist' destination, where there are many cafes, bars and luxurious hotels open to non-residents.
There are regular suburban trains and buses to Colombo (journey 20 - 40 mins depending on traffic). You can also book Uber or 'Pick Me' (Sri Lankan version of Uber) vehicles which are cheap and efficient.
For longer trips we'd recommend that you use a personal driver. Jay can arrange this for you.
