The Waluwa was built over 100 years ago on land gifted by King George V to the local village headman.
It has been in the current owner's family for 75 years and has been their home until very recently.
The Waluwa is set in 2.25 acres of land and set far back from the main road which allows for a quiet and calm environment.
The Wauwa has a large living and dining area, three bedrooms, one driver's accommodation, two bathrooms, a kitchenette, and a large traditional kitchen.
In the surrounding grounds there are 15+ varieties for fruit trees, and many types of animals can be seen during the day at different times of the year - elephants, deer, jungle fowl, dwarf deer, hare, giant squirrels, eagles, monitor lizards, snakes, macaques, langurs.
There are also many varieties of birds - Malabar Pied Hornbills, woodpeckers, owls, eagles, etc. Many are endemic species.
The best thing about hosting this property is that it gives guests an opportunity to spend some time in a genuine Sri Lankan Walauwa.
It is not an expensive boutique hotel like many holiday Walauwas in Sri Lanka, but a normal home and it is a pleasure to be able to make it affordable to guests on all budgets.
This property belongs to me and my wife, and we are based in Kandy. I will be dealing with the bookings and enquiries, and in Kekirawa you will be looked after by Ranjit and Shriani.
