Villananda is a beautiful beachfront property with polished concrete, antique doors (Ambalangoda is the place for antiques) and decorative objects carefully selected from the local area. The villa is only a few minutes away by tuk tuk from the town of Ambalangoda. The two spacious bedrooms are equipped with king-size beds (180 x 200 cm) with mosquito nets, A/C and a writing table. In one bedroom, the bed can be adjusted into two single beds 90 x 200 cm. Each room has an en-suite bathroom with solar heated water. Breakfast, filtered water, daily housekeeping, wifi and a laundry service are all included. The living room/sitting area will allow you to enjoy the small library. A speaker system is waiting for your iPod or other MP3 player. The kitchen (2 gas burners, refrigerator, microwave oven, toaster, kettle, coffee maker...) will allow you to cook for yourself, if you prefer not to order from our reasonably priced menu. The vast terrace overlooking the garden, the pool, the quiet sandy beach and the sea will welcome you for meals and relaxation. At least one member of staff will sleep in the adjoining service house and there will be night time security.

Ambalangoda is a bustling town with many things to see and is regarded as the heart and soul of southern art and culture, with its gifted mask artists (see the famous mask workshop and museum), historic bell tower and temple and as a centre for antiques. The area contains some of the most beautiful palm-fringed beaches on the west coast. Not far from the quiet beaches, the 390 hectare Madampe lake creates a unique biodiversity and there are a great variety of birds, wildlife, different types of vegetation and fish. Take a trip in our boat and relax, whilst listening to the birds and enjoying the serenity of the lake. Ambalangoda has both railway and bus stations and is about 13 km from the Southern Expressway (E01). Not far away can be found the longest reclining Buddha statue in South Asia, a moonstone mine, turtle and fish farms and the lively town of Hikkaduwa. Within just over 30 minutes by tuk tuk is the renowned Galle Fort UNESCO World Heritage Site. The famous Sinharaja rainforest, the Udawalawe wildlife park, the city of Kandy with the sacred Temple of the Tooth or a tea estate and factory can be reached during a one day trip, which our villa manager can arrange.
