Welcome to our wildlife campsite "Varlium Pastauninks" which is located next to a beautiful, cute and cozy town of Kuliai in Plungė municipality. Only here you can oficially call yourself "The shepherd of the frogs" since "Varlium pastauninks" in local Samogitian dialect means "Frog Pasture".
If you are looking for a completely wild place in the nature, you are mostly welcome to unpack your backpack at our campsite with the total area of 2,5 ha, bordering a natural river bank covered with trees as well as two small/medium size ponds suitable for fishing or swimming.
The town of Kuliai has free of charge free-time and outdoor sports facilities for grown-ups an kids such as basketball, football, voleyball, table tennis and an outdoor gym equipment! Children under 10 years old can spend time in two playgrounds.
If you are tired of crowded campsites and masses of people then our campsite is the right place for you. You can stay in our summerhouse or build up your own tent in any place you choose.
This campsite is our familys' big dream and small business. Everything we do we do from the bottom of our hearts.
We decided to start fulfilling this dream back in 2020 and got the licence for a campsite in July 2022, so the area is still in the making. Please be benevolent to us as we are doing the best we can with the little recources we have.
Everything in life needs time, so does our campsite - small planted trees need time to grow up, flowers need time to blossom, but that's what makes our big dream small business exceptional - YOU can become a direct observer of everything we do. All you need is to come and return afterwards!
And if you think that Kuliai is too small for a cultural journey, then let me assure you, YOU ARE WRONG. Kuliai has a history of at least 500 years! Here you can observe two buildings built almost 250 years ago by a Jesuit priest who studied architecture in Polock in the middle of the 18th century. You can even visit a catholic church designed by a Swedish architect Karl Eduard Strandmann who was a famous architect in the Baltics region in 19th century. You can ask for a guided tour to the site or order a local cusine educational dinner.
Kuliai is located in Plungė municipality, therefore a trip to Plungė from our campsite is strongly recommended! There you can enjoy beautiful panoramas of Plungė manor and explore local traditions even better.
And if you feel relaxed enough after "pasturing the frogs" and willing to see some more crowded places, then Klaipėda or Palanga with sandy beaches are only 1 hour away from our campsite.
It's your turn to choose now! For more information and up-to-date posts please become our friend on fb Stovyklavietė "Varlium pastauninks"! See you in the pasture - there's lots of "pasturing" to do so don't take long!
