Casa Contrada is a rustic chic jungle cliff house located on remote La Boquilla Bay on the scenic Costa Chica of the Southern Mexican state of Oaxaca. The house rest on a 2.4 acre bluff between two small, remote beaches, rocky Playa del Sol and lovely, swimmable, Playa del Muerto, (to wich we have a primitive stairway). The rest of our 300 meter shoreline is rocky, and spectaculary beautiful, offerin 280* vistas of larger La Boquilla beach and other surrounding beaches.
This is the home of George & Lauda owners of the nearby Hotel Bahia de La Luna, where beach accommodations are reserved for guests of Casa Contrada, including beach palapas, kayaks and snorkel equipment. This is a 15 minute walk along the brecha (woodland road) on the ridge above the ocean.
This couple, former New Yorkers, moved to Mexico in 1997 and spent years driving the coasts of Mexico searching for the perfect combination of climate, geography, seclusion....and then discovered beautiful La Boquilla Bay, a combination of rocky promontories sheltering lovely small beaches, This is where they chose to build Casa Contrada.
Located midway between Puerto Escondido and Huatulco, the nearest town is Puerto Angel, 15 minutes distance. The nearest airport is Huatulco (HUX) where our caretaker, Bartolo, will meet your flight, or you can brave the 5 hour drive over the mountains from colonial Oaxaca City.
Casa Contrada is 3 kilometers down a rugged dirt road, and then 75 meters down it’s driveway.
Protected by video cameras and an electric gate, you may pass your time in comfortable security. With a Telmex contract or Simcard, G3 internet is available as data transmissiion, Skype or Appletalk.
Transportation can be arranged to the charming local beach towns of Puerto Angel, Zipolite, San Agustanillo, and Mazunte.
