Just a 10-minute walk (1 km) from the picturesque center of Izamal, Gardenhotel Macan Ché B&B welcomes you to a peaceful retreat nestled in a lush tropical permaculture garden. At the heart of the property lies a refreshing cenote-style pool, surrounded by natural stone and exotic greenery – the perfect place to relax, recharge, and unwind. Each accommodation at Macan Ché is lovingly and individually designed, blending vibrant colors with modern comforts. All rooms feature air conditioning and a private bathroom with a shower. The spacious apartments in the Hacienda (see site map) also offer a cozy seating area, a balcony, and a shower/bathtub – ideal for a truly relaxing stay. We serve a freshly prepared breakfast daily from 8:00 to 9:30 a.m. Our new kitchen, currently under development, will soon offer a selection of light dishes, snacks, and fresh vegetarian meals – lovingly prepared and perfect for a little bite in between. Thanks to its ideal location, Macan Ché is the perfect base for your explorations: the colonial city of Mérida and the world-famous Maya site Chichén Itzá are each only a 45-minute drive away, while the pristine beaches of the coast can be reached in about an hour. Excursion Tips: Immerse yourself in the fascinating world of the Maya! In addition to Chichén Itzá, day trips to the impressive ruins of Uxmal, the mysterious pyramids of Ek Balam, or the historically rich site of Mayapán are well worth it. Each of these destinations offers majestic temples, intricate stone carvings, and a truly unique atmosphere. Right here on site, we’ll be happy to organize a visit to the nearby Kinich Kakmó pyramid, which offers breathtaking panoramic views over Izamal and the surrounding landscape. Izamal is known as the "Yellow City" for good reason: nearly all of its buildings are painted in a warm, radiant yellow – a striking and unforgettable sight that gives the town its distinctive character. One of the town’s highlights is the impressive Convento de San Antonio de Padua, a former Franciscan monastery from the 16th century. Built atop an ancient Maya pyramid, it stands as the spiritual and architectural heart of Izamal, with its expansive arched courtyard and rich history. Also just ten minutes on foot from the hotel is the large Kinich Kakmó pyramid – one of the largest of its kind on the Yucatán Peninsula. It’s the perfect spot for a spontaneous adventure into the fascinating world of the ancient Maya.
