I currently reside in Stockholm, Sweden, but due to my mother's Norwegian heritage, I have spent every summer in our family house since I was a child. My wife and I now have two children, aged 20 and 18. Together, our entire family has spent every summer at the house on the island, enjoying it as much as my wife and I do. It offers activities that cater to everyone, regardless of age or interest. We are a family that loves adventures, nature, fishing, and hiking.
The house is situated on the island of Talgje, in the Ryfylke fjord, approximately 30 minutes from Stavanger via tunnels beneath the sea. Regular ferry services also connect Stavanger center with Talgje. Positioned on a sea plot that faces south, the cottage includes a large porch and its own dock. The land surrounding the cottage is primarily natural, featuring extensive spaces where children can play freely. Talgje is celebrated for its varied wildlife, including wild flowers and plants, and offers excellent spots for diving and fishing in the vicinity. Nearby, there's a disc golf course and opportunities to rent kayaks. The island's lush nature is crisscrossed by fine hiking trails and hosts tomato farms and flower greenhouses. Its rich flora and fauna—from deer to eagles—are frequently visible from the cottage. The island is also steeped in history, with numerous artefacts from the Viking and Iron Ages. Organized tours can take you to sites like the church dating back to the 12th century. Additionally, Talgje serves as an ideal starting point for excursions to Pulpit Rock, Lysefjord, Kjeragbolten, and similar attractions. Boats can be rented upon request.
