Lille Randklev Guesthouse is part of a small farm which is located near Ringebu. We primarily use the guesthouse as a home for visiting friends and family but also enjoy renting it out, meeting people from all over the world. At the farm we are breeding and training Icelandic horses.
The house is old and cozy, functional but no luxurious. The guesthouse does however have most everyday comforts like a dishwasher, a microwave, a washing machine and wifi.
We are a Danish/Norwegian family with 4 children. Our main interest are horses, hiking, cross county skiing and cycling. But we also like football, handball, chess, music, choir, downhill skiing and other winter sports. We enjoy well prepared food, deli, and chocolate and we grow our own vegetables. We are social people living in a somewhat desolate place, so hosting friends, family and guests is a lovely way to fullfill some socialization needs and get impulses from the world.
Both of us adults holds PhD degrees and we have lived abroad before ending up here on our lovely mountain. At the moment my husband, Geir, is working part time in Oslo and part time from home office, while I, Christina, take care of children, horses and guests at the farm.
The main attraction in the Ringebu surroundings must be the great nature. Here are endless possibilities for outdoor adventures. Hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, river rafting, skiing, treetop climbing, dogsledding. Everything within a short drive from our place.
The neighbourhood however also offers other things.
Ringebu stave church, build in year 1220, is one of only 28 surviving stave churches from the middle age and it is one of the largest. The clergy house from 1743 are hosting art exhibitions and a café. It has a very nice historic garden with herbs, roses, etc. Definitely worth a visit.
Ringebu is a small town with a nice pedestrian centre. The town was in 2011 awarded a price (Statens bymiljøpris) for the nice centre, and it is still recognised as one of the best preserved village centres in Norway, with all its activities and everydaylife. Every Saturday during the summer there is a market.
There are some restaurants in Ringebu and surroundings. Among these "Annies spisested" and "Fåvangkroa" is highly recommended.
Hunderfossen Family Park is a folk tale theme park with over 60 attractions. In the winter season they have fantastic snow sculptures.
