My home is a renovated 1970's build that I have modernised with soft relaxing decor into the B&B. We have a lovely climate in the summer so my garden is able to be used for enjoying a glass of wine & nibble. My dining room, plates, cutlery & glasses are available if you bring in food & there is a convection, microwave oven for use if you wish to heat food.
I have worked in Hospitality all of my life & most of those years being a chef so I enjoy making the muesli, granola & breads, also the yogurt that are served for breakfast, using seasonal fruit jelly as the sweetener in the cereals.
Breakfast is served in the dining room at desired time. Please let me know what time suits.
It is a pleasure to welcome visitors to my home, to hear the stories of their travels & to be able to give insights into the lovely town I have chosen to live in.
While my property is not in the center of town we are 5-7 minutes drive away. It takes a 5 minute walk to visit the lovely Rotokawau Virginia Lake, 15 minute drive to the fabulous Kai Iwi beach which is a very family friendly popular spot & about 7 minutes to Castlecliff beach at the mouth of the river. Bushy Park Forest is a 15 minute drive also where you can walk among giant trees & experience rare native wildlife. The river is a huge attraction with Kowhai Park offering children many hours of fun. Upokongaro, a small historic village is a 10 minute drive up State Highway 4 has a fabulous cafe (Behind the door on 4) & is where the cycle bridge crosses the river. It is a lovely walk to take over it & if you are lucky your visit might coincide with the paddle steamer the Waimarie who does her turn around at this point of the river to return to Whanganui. Taking a trip on her is encouraged. She really is a beauty & you are informed of the history of the river while enjoying your trip. We have many great eating spots & being a creative center there is much to see in the many galleries, wall art & sculptures scattered around the town.
