Hi, we're Calvyn, Alice and Claire, a South African family that moved to NZ 25 years ago. We love living the kiwi life here and having sold our small farm (called a lifestyle block) we purchased Braemar House Bed & Breakfast and YHA Hostel in Dec 2016. We love hosting both kiwis and internationals as avid travellers ourselves and hearing all about your travels. Come join us at our 'home from home'!
宿泊施設の情報
Braemar House was built in 1880 which makes it one of the oldest houses in Whanganui. It is situated virtually next to the Whanganui River and the extensive walkway running down to the iSite, the Waimarie River steamer, Wairua River Boat, Mabel the Tram and other tourist attractions. Braemar House has a selection of deluxe period-style private rooms in our B&B wing (breakfast is an optional extra for B&B guests only), including a comfortable lounge & dining room for breakfast and business use. On occasion, it may be possible for B&B guests to use the YHA kitchen. this is not always possible as we sometimes have YHA site bookings.
In the YHA we have tidy, economical private double, twin & family cabins and bunkbed backpacker dorms. These are self-catering and do not include breakfast. There are shared bathroom facilities and a communal backpacker lounge (including TV) & fully equipped kitchen. The large 6-bed family room also has its own private ensuite.
We have free high-speed unlimited wifi, bicycles for rent, lockers for extra peace of mind, laundry facilities and a pizza oven to enjoy in our outdoor seating area in the garden which gets lit on Friday evenings in the summer. Need to relax? This is the place! We look forward to meeting you at Braemar House, Wanganui.
周辺エリアの情報
Wanganui (sometimes spelt Whanganui) is a place steeped in history, art and culture. Big enough to draw crowds and small enough to be intimate. We are surrounded by mountains, Mount Taranaki, Mount Ruapehu and Mount Tongariro, a beautiful natural landscape, dramatic west coast beaches and unspoiled native bush for tramping and wilderness trips.
Our vibrant community prides itself on its parks and reserves, cycle and walkways and an abundance of creativity. Don’t be surprised to find an immediate sense of connection, an unexpected little slice of heaven, and real New Zealand authenticity.
Braemar House is close to the river, it's an easy 10min walk along the walkway to the main street Victoria Avenue, the charming Saturday farmers market, the local glass school and a number of great art galleries.
If you're interested in a longer walk the walkway along the riverfront will take you all the way to the beach about 10 km's, or you are welcome to hire a bicycle (for a small fee).
