Cave Rock Guest House is on the beachfront in Sumner, seaside suburb of Christchurch. 20 minutes from the centre of Christchurch, and 40 minutes from the Airport. Sumner Beach is the perfect holiday location, Sumner is a safe swimming and surfing beach and is patrolled during the summer months. There are numerous cafe/bars, restaurants and coffee shops within walking distance. Surfboards are hired from the local surf shop and surfing lessons available in the summer months. We have many shops in Sumner Village, including supermarket, hairdresser, pharmacy, bakery, surfshops, bottleshop, clothing stores and giftshops, all a 5 minute walk away. We have three options of accommodation: Garden studio unit - with queen bed and ensuite bathroom, quiet and private with BBQ available and outdoor seating. The Queen Suite which is the entire top storey of our villa, consists of large queen bedroom with ensuite bathroom, and a twin room with ensuite. Kitchenette/breakfast area which overlooks Sumner Beach and Southern Alps. Gorgeous views. Also our standard double room with private bathroom and tea and coffee making facilities. Please note we live on site.

Gayle and Norm Eade, we are in our mid 60's have been in the hospitality business for many years and have owned three taverns over the years. Norm has also been in the oil industry, having worked on oilrigs for many years. We are semi-retired. We have a lovely dog called Bruce, he is a Springer Spaniel and loves people, we also have a cat and have inherited one other cat who has adopted us and who I now feed so I guess we have two cats in theory. I enjoy playing golf and gardening. We both have electric bikes.

Sumner is a great spot, we have a Sunday farmer's market in the summer, selling all sorts of produce and arts and crafts. Surf lessons are available along the beachfront and are by appoinment. A stroll along the promenade takes you to Scarborough Beach and a lovely cafe for a morning cup of coffee. There is a great coffee culture here in Sumner, we have 8 coffee shop/cafes in Sumner, so you will be spoiled for choice. We have several hill walks for the walkers, and bike trails for the cyclists. There is a 9 hole golf course 15 minutes drive away, which you can have a casual nine hole game. We have a local riding school in Sumner, a 5 minute drive, and lessons can be arranged if required. Best of all you don't need your car you can walk to everything. There is something for everyone in Sumner.
