Modern, super quiet, fully equipped kitchen and laundry, including laundry powder and drier. The views we guarantee will leave you breathless - Lake Taupo with Mount Tauhara out of all living areas in front of you and changing depending on wind direction, cloud cover and time of day. Plus, beautiful garden views in the foreground. A short walk to the popular family friendly Acacia Bay Beach, the local bar and brasserie, and with many enjoyable walks in the immediate area. A fabulous cafe 2.5 km up the road with amazing outdoor mosaic sculptures plus a gallery with lots of fabulous NZ made items large and small. Plus, only 7 km from the town centre.
Mark and I love hosting guests at our cottage and have been doing this for several years. We feel very privileged to live in such a beautiful corner of the world, and to share that with others is rather special. While we live next door, the cottage is completely detached, has its own entry area and is quiet and private. We are on hand should you want tips of where to go, eat, what to do etc, but other than greeting you on arrival (if we are home as we also like to travel, when work permits), we respect guest privacy.
We both love nature, the outdoors, travelling and hiking. Den has recently become an avid pickleballer and, if she is available, a game with her is always a possibility or she can give you details about how to book an indoor court in town for an hour or two. She also 'dips' in the lake for 10 minutes twice a week every week of the year (yes, winter included with the lake temperature around 10-11 degrees Celsius!). Again you are very welcome to join her!
We have a gorgeous and friendly Blue Heeler dog, Max, who loves a pat. Max is not allowed in the cottage but is often not far from Den so if you would like to meet him that's easily arranged. If you are interested in learning about NZ farming, livestock, 70's Ford Falcon cars, or heavy trucks - Mark's your man!
The lake, views, walking tracks, a great cafe with art gallery and a great selection of NZ made gifts to purchase, a local bar and brasserie, native trees, amazing gardens, friendly locals, little traffic, tui (birds), peace and quiet.
