HawkRidge Estate was purchased in the spring of 2014, by Dougal and Michelle Burfoot. It was a bare 2 aces full of potential. Planting begun with the orchard and shelter trees. With seasons very distinctive in Queenstown; autumn colour, winter snow, spring flowers and summer fruit quickly made themselves known to all.
A shed and studio were added in 2018, now known as the Chalet but formally known as Scott Base after the Dougal's and Michelle's son Scott, who helped with the original planting and stone work.
The main home, HawkRidge Chateau was added in 2018/2019, designed by Dougal in a modern, rustic style but with influences from the history of Queenstown and Central Otago. Always hoping to build a castle Dougal couldn't resist bespoke candle lighting and heavy wooden doors. The High Country Rooms, The Alpine Suite and the HawkRidge Chalet were opened to guests in November 2019.
Dougal and Michelle enjoy welcoming guests to their very special home.
HawkRidge Chalet is located on Threepwood Farm, so don’t be surprised to hear lamb’s baaing in spring or deer roaring in autumn. HawkRidge has been planted for autumn colour, native bird life and privacy. Only 5 minutes from the historical picturesque Arrowtown and 20 minutes from vibrant Queenstown..
