Quiet, views of sunset or sunrise over Tauranga harbour, bush, birds of all varieties, luxurious accommodation. Its hard to beat. Feel like some exercise, wander down to the Tauranga Omokoroa cycleway for an afternoon walk or cycle along the harbour's edge, watch the godwits out on the sand bank or flocking in the late afternoon sun or simply relax in your private lounge. For bird lovers this is your place, listen to the godwits chattering overnight out on the sand bank, tuis in the trees, fantails in the bush, pheasants and quail wandering along the grass in front of the house, hawks flying along the bank, wax eyes, we have even had New Zealand's native parrot the Kaka eating the persimmons. All this while enjoying a wine looking out over one of the best views of Tauranga harbour you'll see.
Two beautifully appointed rooms. Suitable for two couples or a couple and two children (our super king bed splits into two king singles). With the bathroom between the two rooms and a lovely lounge with spectacular views this could be the ultimate getaway or simply a great place to stay while doing work in Tauranga. Nature, luxury and peace.
Trish is our Manager and your first port of call with any questions. She is excellent at keeping things in order and running smoothly. Trish’s husband Robert is a retired farmer, and he loves nothing more than to care for the land and tend the gardens. You will often see him working around the grounds or heading off on his quad bike to what he affectionately calls “the flood plain” (down below). He is primarily responsible for the beauty and bounty of our gardens, and his love for them shines through in what you see around you. He loves meeting people and is always up for a friendly chat.
Andrew and Trish's sister Sharon live in the main house. Sharon used to be an environmental policy analyst, then a full-time mother. Since the kids left home she has retrained as an Emotional Freedom Techniques (Tapping) practitioner. She is secretary of the local tennis club. Andrew is the Marketing Manager at Karaka Pines Villages, a Tauranga-based retirement village operator that believes in giving village residents the benefit of the capital gain from their dwelling. Andrew is president of the local tennis club. He also enjoys sailing and regularly participates in races and regattas.
Situated 20 minutes drive from central Tauranga on the northern side of Tauranga the Omokoroa peninsula has a lot to offer. Walk or cycle the peninsula or all the way into town along the cycleway. The links golf course (3 min drive) is challenging and popular with the local golfers. Play tennis at the Omokoroa Community Tennis Club (we can lend you racquets and balls). Book online, even turn the lights on for a night game after work. Have a drink down at the wharf, take the kids to play on the safe and shallow inner harbour beach, or rent a kayak or SUP to get out on the water. Soak in the Omokoroa Thermal Pools, just down the road. There is a great skate park nearby with flying fox (walk or 1 minute drive). This is always packed with kids and parents and families having barbecues. Within a short driving distance there are also many interesting and beautiful parks and outdoor activities.
A variety of cafes, restaurants and eateries, a supermarket, pharmacy and medical centre can be found within walking distance of our home. More cafes, takeaways, dairies, an op shop and a beachside park and playground can be found a short drive down the peninsula.
