Riverstone is situated on a semi rural lifestyle block on the banks of the Taramakau River, halfway between Greymouth and Hokitika with a stunning view of the river and historic rail bridge.
The guest wing has 5 crisp and clean bedrooms perfectly suited for families and larger groups,
offering top of the line beds, quality cotton sheets, french flax linen duvets, feather and down duvet inners and luxurious pillows.
Your group will share a bathroom block with 3 separate and private, high pressure showers with unlimited hot water, a toilet off the bedroom wing, plus another 3 toilets off the lounge.
Please note that there are no en-suites.
We have a large chefs kitchen with an induction cooktop oven, well suited for bigger groups including all the essentials you’ll need and more, with plenty of bench and storage space.
You will have a spacious open plan lounge and dining area which leads to a massive deck with a stunning view of the Taramakau River.
There is a BBQ on the deck with gas provided along with plenty of seating for outdoor dining.
The whole house is double glazed and fully insulated which not only keeps it warm in the cooler months, it also eliminates road noise.
The heat pumps in both the lounge and the bedroom hallway can be used for both heating and cooling.
Other things to note:
- You will be the only guests on site during your stay
- We also live here under the same roof, but all areas are completely separated and private.
- There are no shared spaces.
- Provided are all the basic cooking essentials; vegetable oil, salt, pepper, vinegars, soy, herbs and spices, food wrap, baking paper, tin foil etc. Also provided are some continental breakfast supplies that you can help yourself to including cereals, homemade bread, spreads, tea, instant and plunger coffee, milk, seasonal fruit and free range eggs from our chickens if they’re laying.
Being a West Coaster born and bred, I love this stunning region & the amazing lifestyle it allows.
I’m normally always on hand if you need any help or advice, or if you’d just like to meet up and chat.
With a background in hospitality & having travelled a fair bit, I know what’s important to the discerning guest and strive to provide a comfortable, friendly and easy stay.
Hope to see you soon on the beautiful West Coast!
-Rachel
Access to the Taramakau River is a 1 minute walk out the back door through our property and the beach is a 20 minute walk.
While my young children and I are very mindful to respect your privacy and keep the noise down, kids will be kids so you will no doubt hear us from time to time and see us outdoors on our side of the house. If you think this might be an issue, this property probably isn’t the right place for you to book. Aside from the kids and I, you will have no neighbours so you are welcome to roam the entire property.
Nearby attractions to the north include; Lake Brunner, The Great Coast Road, which has been named one of the top 10 drives in the world by Lonely Planet, the world famous Motukiekie Beach, the Pancake Rocks and Punakaiki. To the south, Lake Mahinapua boat tours and kayak hire, the Hokitika Gorge, the Tree Top Walkway, Hokitika beach town, Lake Kaniere, Franz Josef Glacier and Fox Glacier just to name a few.
Please keep in mind that the house is not situated in a town. We are on a semi rural lifestyle block halfway between Greymouth and Hokitika in a very picturesque setting. If in doubt please find us using an online map.
