We are excited to be sharing our rustic wee hut with you and sharing a stunning part of New Zealand with you! We all have a huge passion for travelling (most recently was in the Phillipines on motorbike), but our favourite place to be is either camping in the Catlins, or having a beer in the sun at our hut in beautiful Riverton.
Right now Hayley and Nathan are back in Europe where they work on superyachts. And any spare time sees Shelley and Myron down at the beach or in the countryside on crazy muddy tracks on their motorbikes!
Situated on the south coast of Southland, Riverton (also known as Aparima) is an eclectic and quirky town surrounded by stunning natural beauty and home to lovely locally owned cafes.
Riverton spans Jacob's River Estuary; and is a picturesque location framed by the vast, sweeping coastline.
Riverton's surrounding beaches and estuary are popular with swimmers, kayakers, surfers and families. Dolphins often travel up into the estaury for feeding and can be seen from the beaches.
Nearby Colac Bay (and other secret locations) are top spots for surfing. The Long Hilly Track starts just after this bay, exploring regenerating native bush and relics from the days of early Chinese goldmining in Southland.
Riverton is also on the Southern Scenic Route and is an ideal stopover between Queenstown and Dunedin. Riverton is located 30km from Invercargill.
