Serene and welcoming, Sundari Retreat was built in 2008 and is close to all amenities in Otaki.
My home is bordering a farm and is sunny and private. Sundari is a self contained cottage on my property and is decorated in Balinese style with a bamboo ceiling and solid timber floors.
The furnishings and artwork are also Indonesian as is the sub-tropical garden and deck area.
There is an outside bath to soak in under the stars. A chiminea or large outside fireplace are also great for cosying up under the stars.
If there are 3 of you I do have a very comfortable retro caravan on the section that can be hired for an extra cost. That person would have to use the studio bathroom facilities.
A generous continental breakfast is included in the room rate.
I have been hosting for many years and really enjoy meeting people from all walks of life. I started with international students when my children were at home and am still in touch with some of them.I have 4 adult children and 3 grandchildren. Two live overseas and two are in New Zealand , as are the grandchildren ( thank goodness!)
A lot of my family live in various places around the world which makes travelling a lot of fun. Hobbies include, travelling, cooking, reading, movies, following our national sports teams and watching tennis.
Two mins drive away in one direction, are cafe's, restaurants , shops and heated swimming pool. In the other direction are many eating places, a supermarket etc. About 5mins walk. You will find a boutique movie theatre in Waikanae, 15 mins drive from Otaki .10 mins drive to Te Horo , head towards the beach and you will find Kirsty's Bus Stop cafe in Sims Rd. The bus is situated amid a gorgeous coastal garden. Kirsty is an ex deli owner and caterer. I guarantee you won't be able to resist her treats.
Head off to the beach (5 mins drive) walk in the bush, play golf, go mad in the outlet shops or do nothing at all!
