Company information
We founded Recantos d’Almerinda in 2023, but the story began a bit earlier, when life took an unexpected turn for our main partner – the one who now welcomes you when you arrive. Unable to continue in her previous profession, the family came together to give new life to old stone houses, full of history, that had been left behind in a nearly abandoned village.
Today, we are four partners, all from the same family. Some are more involved in the daily work, others helped build the project and remain behind the scenes – but we all share the same goal: to welcome our guests the way we’d like to be welcomed. We also count on a trusted collaborator who helps with cleaning and preparing the houses, always with the same care and attention – and who shares our values.
We manage 4 stone houses, each with its own story. None of them were built from scratch – they were all carefully restored, respecting their past while adapting them to today’s comfort. Even the names of the houses are linked to their individual histories. We welcome you in a friendly, informal way, explain everything calmly, and we’re always nearby if you need anything.
What can you expect from your stay? Impeccably clean houses, carefully thought-out details, authenticity, and someone available whenever you need – whether it’s to answer a question, solve an issue, or simply help you feel at home.
Property information
Casa da Saia Grande is one of those places you feel before you even walk in. Tucked away in a quiet village at the foot of Serra da Sicó, this stone house blends rustic charm with modern comfort – and invites you to slow down the moment you arrive.
It accommodates up to 6 guests and is ideal for those looking for peace, rest, and a deep breath of nature. Inside, you'll find a fully equipped modern kitchen, cosy beds, a private patio with a barbecue, and direct access to our heated saltwater pool with mountain views. The pool is shared with two other houses, but there’s plenty of space and calm to go around.
We take care of the little things: coffee and spices are included, as well as pool towels, a baby cot if needed, private parking, and even chargers for electric cars. Everything is in place so you can simply enjoy.
The decoration is different from our other houses, with its own personality, but the feeling is always the same: comfort, authenticity, and a warm, homely vibe. It’s the kind of place where time slows down – and that’s exactly the point.
We’re a family-run business, and we welcome guests the way we’d welcome friends. Cleanliness, kindness, and attention to detail are what people appreciate the most – and that’s what we love to offer.
Neighbourhood information
We’re in a tiny village where time seems to slow down. There’s barely any movement, the streets are quiet, and the few locals you’ll see always greet you with a smile. No traffic, no rush – just peace, nature, and the sound of birds. The nearest shops are in the Redinha parish, about 1 km away, but most people come here to truly disconnect.
The house is located at the foot of the Serra da Sicó, a little-known mountain range full of hidden gems. There are walking trails, scenic swings, breathtaking viewpoints, a spring with a natural waterfall, and even a chapel nestled between the rocks with a panoramic view. And of course, the famous Buracas do Casmilo – the largest concentration of natural caves in Portugal – and the quirky "Cookie Monster", a rock formation shaped like a face that looks like something out of a movie.
If you're up for exploring further, you’ve got the town of Pombal with its castle and history, Soure Castle, Coimbra, Conímbriga, Fátima, Portugal dos Pequenitos, Leiria’s historical centre and castle, and even a beautiful beach – Osso da Baleia. Not to mention a panoramic water park right at the top of the mountain.
Local food is a must – there are some truly great traditional restaurants, mostly in Pombal (about 10 km away), where quality, flavour, and fair prices go hand in hand.
Around here, you'll feel calm, safe, and connected to nature. The views are stunning, and life moves at a slower pace. It’s the kind of place where you naturally slow down – and don’t even miss the rush.
