I am a Dutch woman, born in the 60’s, into a shipbuilder’s family near Rotterdam. My husband Ronny and I have five grown up kids, living in Holland (The Hague & Amsterdam) and France (Lyon) and we are blessed being happy grandparents of Badu (February 2018), Tom (August 2019), Ziggy (March 2020), Mosey (May 2022) and soon new born in March 2023! As true lovers of nature and sports, we decided to move from the Netherlands to the beautiful surroundings of Sintra Cascais Natural Park in Portugal in 2016. The house that caught our eye in Assafora offered such opportunities, that the decision to accommodate guests was easily made. After my studies (in Switzerland) in the 1980’s, I was in the lucky circumstance to travel to all continents in our world, encountering amazing and great people triggering my ever existing interest in meeting people. That is one of the main reasons I am looking forward to welcome you at our new place in this beautiful country and to warmly receive you in either English, French, Dutch, German and by now also in the Portuguese language!

João Jungle, located in the village of Assafora, offers three tastefully renovated garden apartments and one apartment on the ground floor of the main villa. adjoining the terrace with the swimming pool. Located in the northern part of the Unesco World Heritage Sintra Cascais Natural Park with the ocean just a few hundred meters away and only a 30-minute drive to the centre of Lisbon, the accommodation is perfectly fit for guests that enjoy nature, sports and cultural activities. Studio 1 ''Ocean Drive'' comprises of an open sleeping area with a queen bed , a kitchenette equipped with an electric cooker and fridge, a bathroom with shower, heating, TV, wifi, iron board + iron and many other amenities. It furthermore includes a small dining table and a large outside terrace/patio overlooking the pool. Apartment 2 ''Cala Benirrás'' is a one-bedroom apartment with a living/dining area, a fully equipped kitchen, a bathroom with shower, and its own private terrace overlooking the grounds, pool and main house. The apartment has heating, airco, wifi, iron board + iron and many other amenities. Apartments 3 and 4 are two-bedroom ones, with extra sofa bed in the living (extra bed)

Assafora is a village in the northern part of Sintra Cascais National Park in a rustic and rugged environment near the Atlantic Ocean with oceans views from the mansion. Centrally located near multiple world-renowned surf spots up north from Ericeira to Peniché and Nazaré and nearby to the south (Praia do Quincho, Cascais - known for its beautiful golf courses), you can enjoy the beauty of famous beaches for surfing, kite surfing, windsurfing, fishing, swimming etc. For the culture lovers the nearby attractions such as the medieval village of Obidos, Sintra and Mafra are a must, while Lisbon offers a multitude of cultural attractions and museums. Culinary highlights and nightlife can be found in Ericeira, Sintra and Cascais and of course in Lisbon. From João Jungle the international airport is easy to reach at just 40 km distance. During high season Assafora remains an oasis of calm and peace and tourism here embodies the laid-back, natural atmosphere which each evening is enriched with a unique sunset.
