Welcome to our enchanting mountain retreat, where the magical beauty instantly whisks away your work tension. Studio apartment with a sunny terrace and garden, located in the mountain village of Merujal in the middle of the Serra da Freita. This famous UNESCO geopark is a beautiful mountain area that offers great opportunities for stunning hikes along a network of marked trails, trail running, mountain climbing, canyoning, and cycling. You can also discover the world-renowned attraction of the magical birthing stones and many other sites. Distances: Porto (57 km), Arouca (15 km), Paiva Walkways (27 km).
Hi, my name is Jon Audun and I am originally from Norway. I moved to Porto and I enjoy life here. I work remotely and I am part of Porto i/o, an international coworking community. The house is located in the middle of the mountain region of Serra da Freita at 879 meters altitude, in the village of Merujal. Hiking tracks for the mountains start just outside the house. Right next to the house is a small cafe which also sells groceries. Every day at around 10 in the morning a local bakery with a truck full of fresh bread passes in front of the house. Buy some bread and say hello to the neighbors. Merujal is surrounded by numerous well-marked hiking trails of varying lengths: PR1 Caminhos do Montemuro – 19 km PR2 Caminhos do Vale do Urtigosa – 11 km PR3 Caminhos do Sol Nascente – 13 km PR4 Cercanias da Freita – 13 km PR5 Livraria do Paiva – 3 km PR6 Caminho do Carteiro – 6 km PR7 Nas Escarpas da Mizarela – 8 km PR8 Rota do Ouro Negro – 6 km PR10 Rota dos Aromas – 11 km PR11 Trilho das Levadas – 11 km PR13 Na Senda do Paivô – 4,5 km PR14 Drave, a Aldeia Mágica – 4 km PR16 São Pedro Velho 12 – km GR28 Por Montes e Vales – 26km
