I am half Portuguese and half English, I was born in Lisbon, grew up in England, and then came back to the place I always loved! I live here so am always available to help guests with any advice, local information, directions, arranging activities, and of course making a huge breakfast!

Quinta Beira-Mar is a spacious guesthouse in a quiet cliff-top location, where you can hear the waves and relax under the palm trees in the garden, or you can sit on your balcony reading and watching the sun go down over the sea with a glass of wine! It is also a small farm with a vegetable garden, horses, a goat, a cat, dogs, chickens, ducks and goldfish. You can enjoy being with the animals and eat fresh eggs for breakfast. On-site facilities include a 12 metre pool perfect for swimming or sunbathing on the loungers, surrounded by roses and flowers, and a retro footpool table. Activities range from horse-riding, massage, surfing \ body-boarding and sometimes a yoga or stretching class can also be available. It is a one minute stroll down to the beach where you can walk, swim, sunbathe on the clean golden sand or of course surf! Nearby restaurants and cafes sell fresh fish, seafood, typical portuguese dishes, amazing cakes and great coffee!

Situated on the majestic, rugged Sintra coast-line there are three beautiful beaches to enjoy within easy walking distance, the sea also providing a major surf spot in the summer. There is amazing walking and hiking straight out from the door, you can visit the local archeological site - a roman temple, (10 mins walk) or climb the steps to see the dinosaur footprints embedded in the cliff face above the beach. Following along the dramatic coast-line - you can walk to the westernmost point in Europe; Cabo do Roca or explore the green, foresty Sintra mountains with its magical castles, monastries and palaces. Sintra historic town is 20 mins and Lisbon Cultural City 45 mins by car so both are easy day trips. There are also many pretty local villages to visit, local wine tasting, and the 100 year old tram is always worth a ride from Praia das Maças to Sintra.
