Welcome to the former estate of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and his son Adrian.
The historic Bella Vista was formerly the property of famous writer of “Sherlock Holmes". His son Adrian was almost permanent resident here in the early 50's. He was also an artist and often seen painting in his studio at the light-filled Palacio tower.
In the past Bella Vista was a gathering spot for celebrities of the time such as Sir Francis Cook, Viscount of Monserrate (former Bella Vista owner), poet Roy Campbell or actress Gloria Swanson. Set on Sintra's old magical road that links most of the palaces, guests will pass
some famous sites, such as National Palace, Monserrate & Regaleira. A superb SW orientation gives the name “Bella Vista.” A captivating warm light bathes 4ha of land while you watch the sun set in the Atlantic. Today the estate is divided in two areas - The Palacio and The Villas, offering 14 luxurious Suites with amenities like heated floors, fireplaces, Sonos, high speed net, pool, fire-pit, an animal farm and organic garden. If you are booking a Villa Suite your garden, grounds and pool will be The Villas Pool (non-heated), while guests that book a luxurious Suite at The Palacio will have access to the Palacio grounds and its private pool (heated). Please note that The Palacio and its pool is only open for adults. Bella Vista is a family-owned historic Estate and we welcome our guests to stay with us in our home. There is no restaurant or bar on site, but you will find nature and serenity. We look forward to welcoming you, The Bella Vista Family
