The house in Gäddegölshult was built around the 1880s and is a traditional Småland house, located in the stone- and forestrich part of south Småland. It is a former small farm, with an old barn and storehouse, some pastureland and a beautiful small lake next to it "Gäddegyl". With no sound from cars or traffic, and the great forests surrounding it, the old farm gets a quiet and relaxing environment.
In the lake Gäddegyl you can row out with the boat to fish pike, pikeperch, perch, rainbow fish and more! If you buy fishingcard you will also have access up to 60 lakes in the nearby area. Only a few km from the house you can swim in a lake called Sandören with nice clear water.
During the days and evenings you can sit down by the house or lake, grill and enjoy nature with family and friends!
My name is Anders Augustsson and the cottage is located in the small village Gäddegölshult were I grew up in, just 500m from there. Now I live on a farm some distance away with my wife, and we hunt, fish and work in our own forest partly. The cottage have been rented out by us for several years now.
In this area of south Småland our family have lived for many generations, with farming of the small fields and the big forests. It is a stony and rugged landscape with hardly used soils. The inhabitants has toiled and fought for survival in time of bad harvest.
My father and his father has managed it in their lifes, and in time, hopefully me and my brother will do it too. For us, it is a matter of gratitude to be able to live and work in the land of our rots, the same as our ancestores.
By renting out the cottage we gets the opportunity to meet and learn from new people, but also offer the area and lifestile we live in.
What special about our environment around the cottage is the fantastice landscap! All the stones, big as small, lay in the forest, as a if someone as just droped them off, and between them stands trees, lakes and of course small houses! Many of the neighbours like to do art. You can see this in the way they painted the stones so that they represent animals a.s.o.
Places with more offerings of shops, hospital, activities and authorities are close by! One of the nearest town is Ryd (12 km) which has grocery shop, pizzeria, pharmacy etc. Other larger towns are Älmhult (30 km), Karlshamn (40 km), Tingsryd (35 km), in which has everything you need! If you are hungry for outdoor life, you can just go outside the house and discover. It is several different walking trails and nature reserve to find in the area. Grytesundsleden (1km ) is one exemple where you can experienxe this aera´ nature around the stones and forest.
