Brian Pilcher is the owner of Finlay's Cove which was originally owned and built by George Dick Finlay Jr., Brian's great uncle. Brian lives in California where he grew up but spent his summers loving Braeloch and lives here at Finlay's Cove every August.
Braeloch was created by George Dick Finlay in 1905 when he purchased what he called "the Farm". It had largely passed down to his great and great great grandchildren, like Brian until the 2000s, yet Brian and his brothers retained three properties there. Even though most of the land is no longer in the family's hands, the feel of the community is truly special and it looks almost identical to how it once was, when Finlay and his four children's families used to gather every evening at the Dining House (still there) to eat together and celebrate the day.

Finlay's Cove is a fully modern and spacious house rebuilt within ac 1940's cabin. We bought the Main House in 2018 and rebuilt it completely, adding all modern conveniences and exquisite furnishings throughout, and added a 2 bedroom "Overlook" building above our the Main House's roofline that has it's own balcony with terrific views, a coffee and minibar and, of course a bath and shower. The house's sunset views and proximity to some of the best swimming on Lake Champlain water makes it truly special and unforgettable.
The original "Main" house includes the primary queen bedroom with a private terrace and is right next door to the bunk bed "kids" room. Both rooms are across from the bathroom with a slate "rain room" shower and down the hall from the Great Room which is open configuration to the living and indoor dining room, as well as the modern kitchen. The large screen porch is the heart of the house for its views and natural vibe; it opens to the main living area and is typically left open all summer long.
Swimming is superb from our floating dock - clear and deep - and the cove is very private and well protected for little ones. You can tie off your boat if you have one to our dock and we provide two paddleboards and two kayaks for your enjoyment. The community also has a hard tennis court with pickleball lines and a half-court basketball court for your use and pleasure.

Finlay's Cove is located in a community of 300 acres known as Braeloch and includes 2.5 miles of private shoreline. The houses are seasonal and spread out so privacy is included. Yet we are only located a 20 minute drive from the airport and from downtown Burlington or 90 minutes from Montreal! Burlington's Church Street Marketplace is a 3 block pedestrian outdoor shopping walk that was named #1 "Best Public Square" in the United States by USA Today in 2022.
We are part of a tennis and pickleball and basketball association that is a 5 minute walk from Finlay's Cove and we provide four rackets and paddles for you to play. The basketball court has balls there.
The shoreline is full of rock cliffs and places to swim and explore with our kayaks and paddleboards. Additionally, Colchester is known for one of the best bikeways - the Colchester Causeway (look it up on google) - if you want to do something different.
