The FLY8MA Pilot Lodge has earned a reputation for offering one-of-a-kind accommodations and unforgettable flying experiences from its secluded property in Alaska’s Big Lake area. Jon, the owner, is a Flight Instructor and Tour Pilot based here in Alaska, flying year-round on floats, wheels, and skis. He began building the property—including runways, cabins, and airplane hangars—in 2021. Since then, his YouTube channel has skyrocketed in popularity, attracting over 200,000 subscribers with flight instruction videos and behind-the-scenes footage of his airplane home construction. During your stay, you might catch Jon in action—whether he's teaching students, filming new content, or heading out for a scenic flight.

Let's go fly! Book for 2 nights or more and get a free flight around the local area! The cabin boasts a direct view of the private runway. Located at the Pilot Lodge, there is plenty of room for your vehicles, aircraft, etc. Drive in or fly-in! The cabin has great views of the runway on this 115 acre private airstrip property. There are multiple cabins on the property, and if you have a larger group, reach out to us via a message for multiple cabin bookings. Guest access You'll have your own cabin complete with your own massage chair(!), private bathroom & shower, cute workspace, and fridge/microwave as well as access to a shared cabin that has additional laundry facilities. Other things to note: If you book for 2 nights or more you'll get a free flight included with your stay. This is a 15-minute flight in a small 2-seat aircraft flying from the runway right behind your cabin. There is a 200lbs weight limit for the flight as the aircraft is small. Additional flight training and lesson time can be purchased is desired (ask your host about this!). Free flight is weather and aircraft availability dependent, refunds or rate adjustments will not be available if we cannot fly due to weather or maintenance needs.

The FLY8MA Pilot Lodge is a private, gated retreat just a few miles off the Parks Highway in the beautiful Big Lake area of Alaska’s Matanuska Valley. It's a great place to explore the surrounding Matsu area, or to stop along your route to Denali National Park and beyond. Nestled along a quiet private airstrip, the lodge also serves as the staging area for our customized flight tours and pilot training programs, offering a truly unique "Alaskan" experience for guests. The cabin is located right next to our Boeing 727 airplane lodge where you are welcome to BBQ grill on the wing deck or play some ping pong in the fuselodge! There is also a full washer and dryer in another cabin (just about 75' away from your cabin).
