Built in 1854 from old-growth redwood, the Shaw House Inn is a timeless escape nestled in the heart of California’s charming Victorian village of Ferndale. As the town’s very first home, this grand estate was thoughtfully crafted by pioneer Seth Shaw as a spacious family residence and has been welcoming travelers with warmth and character since 1860.
Each guest room is generously sized, filled with natural light, and uniquely designed for comfort and relaxation. The Inn sits on a beautifully landscaped one-acre garden park, featuring original plantings including redwood, sequoia, cedar, maple, walnut and apple trees. A 135-year-old blooming rose and hidden seating nooks with benches and tables invite you to slow down and savor the peaceful surroundings.
