Dogwood Trail in Southern Shores is one of the most beautiful and established neighborhoods in the Northern Outer Banks. It is located in a maritime forest that feels peacefully tucked away from the crowds but is close to all the conveniences of the town of Southern Shores. The homes are an interesting mix of architecture of different eras that give the neighborhood a unique feel. Dogwood Trail is flanked by the Currituck Sound on the west side and canals that lead into the sound on the east side. Our front porch offers gorgeous sunset views or you can walk across the narrow street to SoundView Park and get a front row seat every night to the sunsets while your kids play at the park playground. Our house is located on a very quiet dead-end street which limits traffic, making it very safe to ride bikes or walk. Biking to the charming town of Duck is an easy, mostly flat, 3 mile ride on a protected bike path that parallels highway 12. The closest ocean beach access is at Hillcrest, which is a one mile walk from the house. We provide 2 parking passes to park in the beach parking lot, which has ample parking, even in high season. There are multiple grocery stores, restaurants, coffee shops, pharmacies, a Walmart, and Home Depot within a few short miles of the house.
Restaurants we recommend in Southern Shores include: Steamers, Rundown Cafe, Pizza Stop, Cosmos Pizza, Shore Coffee Roasters.
Excellent Duck restaurants include: Roadside, The Village, Duck Deli, NC Coast, EvenTide, The Blue Point, Duck Cottage (coffee shop), and Duck Donuts.
Other restaurants we recommend in nearby Outer Banks towns include: Trio, Blue Moon, Sam and Omie's, Greentails, Lone Cedar, and O'Neal's in the fishing village of Wanchese (spend the day in Manteo while you're there).
