Tropical Zen Bungalow is a cozy and private 'ohana' on the Big Island of Hawaii. Enjoy a sense of seclusion where you can relax in comfort during your tropical retreat. The ohana is a separate cottage with its own driveway. It includes a full bath with tub/shower, kitchenette, queen bed, covered lanai and an outdoor shower. French doors and windows look out to a view of coconut palms, ferns and a tropical garden. We are located in a quiet beach community along the scenic Red Road on the coast of Hawaii, a short distance to Kehena black sand beach. Enjoy gazing at the palms, ferns, banana trees, and large Norfolk pines from your protected, screened lanai. The walls and roof are well insulated so you'll feel protected even during a passing rain. Listen to the chorus of coqui frogs lull you to sleep at night and tropical bird songs by day.
You will be pleased to know that our electricity is 100% solar powered!

I visited the Big Island of Hawaii for many years before I finally moved here from California. I'm a fine artist painter and art teacher. The tropical beauty and raw nature of Hawaii inspires me and I am passionate about sharing that inspiration with others. I also love living where it's summer all year round! Being on an island reminds one to be conscious of the environment and to live in harmony with nature and others. I spend my time making art and gardening in my tropical garden. My art studio in on the property and you'll find my artwork adorning the walls of my home and the ohana. I offer art lessons to visitors if they're interested in exploring painting from nature There is so much here to inspire! I look forward to making your stay relaxed and as comfortable as possible. I welcome my visitors with true Aloha spirit.
