Hill house is a small homestay which is located on the hillside run by our family. We are Thai ethnic people who have lived here for a long time. Just like other families, there are 2 generations living in my family: My husband, I and our children. We all share daily work together at the homestay. Morever, my house is right next to my parents and brother's house. So my parents, brother and sister-in-law are willing to support us whenever we need. My homestays has a total of 7 private rooms and 1 domitories, 1 restaurant and bar. We are always very happy to be welcomed, served, and cooked. We hope to be able to bring a memorable and sastisfying experience to everyone.
I'm Thom who is the owner of Hill house.Born and raised in a poor family in this small village. When i was a child, i always dreamed of having a job and a stable income in the future.I always tried my best to study and pass the entrance exam to a university. I liked to study business administration, but because of my family's circumstances, I chose to study pedagogy which i don't have to pay tuition. After graduating from university, I returned to my hometown and became a teacher. I also gradually love my job because I get to work with students every day. I feel that my job as a teacher is truly meaningful. After graduating, in the meantime become a teacher. I was very fortunate to know Mr. Duong, he was previously a tour guide at a hotel. He created the opportunity for me to experience being a real tour guide. On days when there's a tour and he's busy, he often calls me to lead the tour. It's very nice experience that I had chance to meet many people who from diffirent countries.I worked as a teacher for 2 years then married my now husband. After getting married, I realized that the teacher's fixed salary was not enough to support the family. So when my child was 2 years old, I decided to work partime as a hotel receptionist. After about 3 months of working, my mother-in-law in my hometown fell ill and was in the hospital, so I quit my job to go home to take care of her. From that day on, my main job was as a teacher. However, my apportunities for the tourism industry doesn't stop there. Mai Chau tourism is increasingly developing, some of my friends have opened resorts, homestays and invited me to take guests. And I recodnize that most of guests coming to Mai chau, they want to learn more about Thai ethnic minority, Thai cuture and morever they want to stay together with Thai familly and being a part of familly to cook local food, to work in the rice field....Since then I cherish a dream of having a small homestay myself.
