Cycasia Lodge is a large house which has been converted to 3 seperate units sleeping 6 in the house,4 in the 2 bedroomed flat upstairs and 2 in the Honeymoon suite, with the additional garden units of which there are 4 each with a double bed en suite. We can accommodate large family groups of up to 20 adults or 26 with children. We have the facility to cater for special functions. Weddings, engagements or birthday parties, in a garden setting with a covered gazebo/ The lodge is self catering although we have a chef who can make up special menu's for functions. We are a short walk to Umzumbe blue flag beach well known for surfing and fishing. We have 3 to 4 golf courses within 30 - 40 km of the lodge. The property is 7 acres of tropical gardens and huge trees. We are pet friendly and have a pool for all to share. We offer FREE WI FI to our guests
Steve is the owner of the Property and runs his business "Derwent Plumbing" from part of the grounds. Steve is originally from the Lake District in the UK. Gill is his partner who manages all the functions and reservations for the lodge. We do not live on the property so any late arrivals should be arranged in advance. We have staff on hand if you require cleaning or washing during your stay and we can offer meals during the week.
Umzumbe is a small community where the Pumula Hotel is situated, mainly holiday cottages and a few permanent residents. Hibberdene is the closest village for shops and take away's as well as petrol. Port Shepstone is 17km further south and there are numerous restaurants on the way. Lake Eland and Oribi Gorge are a 30 minute drive and well worth a visit. For surfers and fisherman Umzumbe is a blue flag beach and very popular for surfing. There are surfing lessons available as well as horse riding in the area. Cycasia Lodge is next to St Elmos (a catholic church school) which closed in 1993. Fascinating buildings which now belong to a developer who has yet to rebuild the buildings to their former glory.
