ABOUT THE PROPERTY
Hillhouse is a charming, rustic self-catering home, thoughtfully converted from a farm shed. Nestled peacefully among orchards, woodlands, and grasslands, it offers breathtaking views of Midmar Dam and the picturesque valley below. Located just 14 km from Howick, Hillhouse provides a tranquil retreat in a beautiful, rural setting.
Please Note: The last 8 km to the property is on a dirt road, which is best navigated by a vehicle with good ground clearance. While a 4x4 is not necessary, vehicles with low clearance may need to travel more slowly.
Accommodation: Hillhouse accommodates 8 adults and 4 children, making it ideal for large groups, family getaways, workshops, or retreats.
The main bedroom features a queen-sized bed and an en-suite bathroom with a shower, toilet, and basin.
The other 3 bedrooms are each furnished with 2 single beds, which can be joined to form doubles. Please note that one of these rooms is located on the landing, offering less privacy, and the rooms have wooden walls, so sound may travel between them.
There is an additional mezzanine area with 4 single beds overlooking the living area, which is better suited to children or teens due to its open nature and lack of privacy.
The remaining 3 bathrooms each contain a shower.
Amenities:
High-quality 100% cotton bed linen and towels are provided.
The fully equipped kitchen includes all the essentials for a self-catering stay.
Braai facilities are available for outdoor cooking, and the lounge features an open fireplace with wood provided.
For Larger Groups: You may book Lakehouse in addition to Hillhouse. Both houses are located 150 meters apart on the same farm.
Additional Features:
We have a children's play area below Hillhouse, complete with a trampoline, swing, and jungle gym.
You’re welcome to use the communal swimming pool at our private home, located just 20 meters from Hillhouse. Please note it is not fenced.
ABOUT THE HOST
My husband and I have lived on the farm for 34 years, and we love sharing our beautiful home with guests. Over the years, we’ve planted thousands of indigenous trees and created orchards and gardens around the guest houses for you to enjoy.
I’m always happy to interact with our guests and am here to assist with any questions you may have. After welcoming you and ensuring you’re settled in, I’ll leave you to relax and enjoy your stay, but I’ll be available on call if you need anything.
