My husband and I moved to Prince Albert from Cape Town about 20 years ago. Big city life is great - but we were yearning for something slower and Prince Albert was an obvious choice. We've never looked back. We've so enjoyed building the property up to what it is today - and have spent hours cultivating our massive veggie garden and being parents to a horde of free range sheep, goats, turkey's and, well, whoever else drops by.

Hello and welcome to Karoo Khaya - so glad you found your way to us on the Internet!
Karoo Khaya has 4 cottages on a small-holding within the beautiful town of Prince Albert in South Africa. Along with my husband Pete we'd like you to feel that this is a relaxing home away from home. Share our passion for the Karoo and our property! Feel free to wander through our huge fruit and veggie garden and olive orchards (and pick from it for your dinner!). The kids will love to visit our animals in their free range home and are welcome to help at feeding time. There are no streetlights or town noises to spoil that special Karoo tranquility…
We look forward to welcoming you to our part of heaven and hope that your visit will be fun and memorable.

Prince Albert is the prettiest of all Karoo towns. Nestled at the foot of the majestic Swartberg Mountains, at the very edge of the Great Karoo, Prince Albert is a very special place where people come to find tranquility, inspiration and the lamb, fruits, cheeses and hospitality for which the region is famous. It is also very much still a working “dorp” with a vibrant and diverse local community.
Just some of the things you can do in town:
Take a walking tour to learn more of the history of the town and its beautifully preserved Cape Dutch, Victorian and Karoo architecture
Drive the famous Swartberg Pass
Visit the Prince Albert Art Gallery – where many South African artists work is on display
Visit the local weavery
Visit the Francois Pienaar museum, one of the only museums with a license to make and sell witblitz
Go on a ghost walk
Ramble on the koppies surrounding the town
Visit the local dairy and taste (and buy) some of its international recognized cheese’s
Eat at one of our fabulous restaurants...
Trust me - once you've been here, you'll always have plans to come back. It's just that kinda place.
