Errol and Venita own and run this small family business ..... it's been 16 years already (with an enforced almost 3 year pandemic closure) Our small team of Nikita and Morgan (daughter and partner) our grandson Cyrus (8 going 18 .... ) Judith and Lolla (housekeeping) and Sampies (our magician in the garden) look forward to welcoming you to what we fondly call 'our little piece of paradise'. Big bedrooms and bathrooms, a large communal lounge and indoor library/relaxation area await - and the newly renovated coffee bar/bar out at the LARGE pool area is truly world-class.
For 7 consecutive years our team were awarded the Tripadvisor Excellence Award - and our product and the reviews our guests leave us are testimony to what we do.
Why are we successful? We LOVE people, have been blessed to travel the world and lived abroad for 6 years. We UNDERSTAND the hospitality business. As a family we welcome other families too - to share our home and facilities! Our hobbies and interests are far-reaching - from gardening to cycling, from jewellery to yoga, from Cape Town to Cairo, from Mandela to Harley Davidson ...... the latter two subjects an evening's entertainment on their own and UNIQUE memorabilia you will not see anywhere else!! (that's a bold promise!!)

A hidden gem in the heart of Oudtshoorn .... situated in an upmarket, leafy suburb on almost an acre, with guest accommodation in a quiet street with safe, off-street parking. As a family-run business, our guests arrive as strangers and leave as friends. Our accommodation is limited to a maximum of 12 people with 4 large, beautifully decorated en-suite rooms - all rooms have doors leading into the garden or onto the verandah and are only a short walk from a recently renovated world-class on-site coffee bar and restaurant where we serve dinners on request (and of course sumptuous full English breakfasts.
There is a convenient outdoor BBQ area at the Guest House - alternatively we have an impressive indoor BBQ area at the bar where you can either 'self-cater' or by arrangement enjoy a BBQ/braai with us - many a life-long friendship built up over the 16 years we have run the establishment
Oudtshoorn enjoys over 300 sunshine days a year and a beautiful feature of our property is a BIG sparkling pool at the restaurant where rest and relaxation are the core ingredients for an awesome stay!
Wondering what to do - ask us and we can arrange ...... from dinners at quality restaurants, game drives, taxi's, wine tours, heritage site buildings, a drive (self-drive or escorted) over the majestic Swartberg Mountain Pass ( a UNESCO World Heritage Site), meerkat tours, cycle and or walking tours..... the town and Little Karoo region has a lot to offer!
Free uncapped high-speed Wi-Fi ensures connectivity with the world - and smart TV in the rooms allows for streaming of your favorite shows on Netflix, YouTube, DSTV and other platforms.
All rooms have king-size bed, air-conditioning and include a tea/coffee station, hairdryer, room safe (and 3 of the bedrooms have a large, separate bath and shower in a huge bathroom!)
Worried about 'load-shedding' and rolling power blackouts? No problem - a 13kVA gas-powered generator keeps our lights on!

Situated on the Western side of town in a safe neighbourhood, there are MANY local attractions. The CP Nel Museum is rated as one of the oldest and best kept museums in the country and a visit takes one back 100 plus years to an era of pomp and ceremony when ostrich barons made and lost fortunes, and when an ounce of ostrich feathers had a value greater than an ounce of gold! A visit to one of the many Ostrich Farms in the area is an education! Visit some of the historical buildings in town, eat out at world class restaurants like Jemimas, Nostalgie, the Cape Eatery ... (all/most restaurants within walking distance of La Pension). If you whine without wine, there are a number of quality wine farms in the area, including Karusa and Grundheim.
A trip to Oudtshoorn is not complete with a visit to the LARGEST caving system on the African continent, the Cango Caves. Also HIGHLY recommended is a drive over the magnificent Swartberg Mountain Pass to the quaint village of Prince Albert with a return to Oudtshoorn via Meiringspoort and De Rust. Many a guest arrives for 1 day and wishes they could stay!
