Lakehouse is a charming, cosy retreat on a 24-hectare farm, located just 12 km from Howick.
Please Note: The final 8 km to the property is on a dirt road, best suited for vehicles with good ground clearance. While a 4x4 is not necessary, vehicles with low clearance may need to travel more slowly.
We offer a tranquil country escape where the entire house is yours to enjoy. Relax on the veranda and take in the serene, expansive views of Midmar Dam and the Dargle Valley.
Explore the farm’s beautiful walking trails through the forests, where you’ll encounter various species of buck, birds, and other wildlife.
For larger groups, both Lakehouse and Hillhouse (which sleeps 12) are available to book, located just 150 meters apart on the same farm.
Fine cotton bed linens and bath towels are provided.
Should you wish for the house to be serviced, a staff member can tidy up in the morning for an additional fee, which you can pay directly to her.
My husband and I have lived on the farm for 34 years, and we love sharing our beautiful home with guests. Over the years, we’ve planted thousands of indigenous trees and created orchards and gardens around the guest houses for you to enjoy.
I’m always happy to interact with our guests and am here to assist with any questions you may have. After welcoming you and ensuring you’re settled in, I’ll leave you to relax and enjoy your stay, but I’ll be available on call if you need anything.
The surrounding area is farmland. We have beautiful views of Midmar dam and the valley below. Our farm is 3 kms from Midmar Dam where one can fish, sail and water ski. Midmar Mile swimmers and other sporting visitors will find this an ideally convenient location. We are also well situated to access many of the Midlands schools. We are in the hub of the KZN Midlands where there are world class restaurants, wonderful scenic roads, hiking, biking, art museums and many other attractions waiting to be discovered
