OceansCrest is a unique hideaway located just a short distance from the sea, only a five-minute walk to the beach and adjacent to a protected area. This semi-detached home features a downstairs tenant but offers a separate entrance for this unit. It includes a guest toilet and two spacious bedrooms, with the main bedroom upstairs boasting breathtaking sea views and a full en suite bathroom. This property is ideal for a romantic weekend getaway, friends who enjoy nature, or a small family looking for child-friendly activities.
We warmly welcome well-behaved and sociable dogs who enjoy exercise and getting along with others. The decor embodies a modern beach vibe, designed to be lived in and respected, as this is our home away from home. The property offers spectacular views and is well-equipped for self-catering, featuring both indoor and outdoor braai (barbecue) facilities. Amenities include an SMEG oven and hob, a Nespresso coffee machine, a mini bar fridge, a hand mixer, a microwave, a dishwasher, and a TV with a soundbar and DVD/CD player.
You can relax on the deck, soak up the sunshine, or enjoy a good book while keeping an eye out for local wildlife, including mongoose, tortoises, small buck, dassies, and even the elusive porcupine. The area is rich in wonderful birdlife, and an indigenous fynbos garden enhances relaxation and tranquility. This space can also serve as an inspiring environment for writing, painting, and meditation.
In just a 15-minute walk, you can visit one of the few penguin sanctuaries in the Western Cape. Harold Porter Botanical Gardens and Kogelberg Nature Reserve are right at your doorstep. Amazing eateries, coffee shops, and rooftop bars are within a 5-10 minute drive. For a change of scenery, head down to the Palmiet River to swim in its cola-colored waters or take a trip to Hermanus—a must-visit destination! Hiking and mountain biking enthusiasts will be spoiled for choice, while kite surfers, fishermen, and divers are common sights.
As seasoned travelers with a wealth of local and international trips behind us, we often prefer accommodations hosted by individuals or families rather than large hotels. This preference has given us a strong understanding of what guests appreciate and expect during their holidays or while away from home. We are fun-loving and enjoy outdoor activities, but we also have a taste for the finer things in life. Our home reflects this balance, and we truly hope you will unwind, relax, and enjoy our hospitality.
Our hobbies include hiking, beachcombing, bodysurfing, wildlife rescue, swimming, motorcycling, and gardening. Listening to music, meditating, and enjoying podcasts are also integral parts of our daily routine. We love reading, experimenting with new recipes, and putting together itineraries for our next anticipated travel destinations. My elderly mom lives on the property in the other unit or flatlet that was specifically designed for her lifestyle and she has two friendly dogs who are part of the family.
We believe the mornings should start with the sound of the ocean and a seriously good cup of coffee (or two)!
Betty's Bay is a quiet neighborhood that still features some of the last open erven and undeveloped areas. The community is animal and dog friendly, comprising a mix of families, retirees, and businesspeople who commute to town. This diversity has contributed to the growth of Betty's Bay as a coastal town.
On picture-perfect days, there's little that can compare to the area's stunning ecosystem, which includes mountains, the sea, rivers, natural dams, and dunes. The unique fauna and flora provide endless opportunities for activities for both adults and children. Options include sandboarding, kite surfing, surfing, diving, fishing, hiking, cycling, running, swimming, and boat adventures. Additionally, the region hosts cultural events, markets, and excellent restaurants at some of the finest wine estates in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley.
For those seeking peace and relaxation, Betty's Bay can also serve as a silent retreat or a self-care weekend destination, where the soothing sound of the ocean and the company of a friendly dog or two provide the perfect escape.
