Company information

Skilpadvlei can accommodate guests in one of the seven self-catering cottages along the dam or the eleven bed & breakfast rooms at the manor house. The surrounding vineyards and landscape is the natural habitat of various bird species whilst the dam offers black bass and trout fishing. Take a hike through the vineyards and enjoy the panoramic views the farm offers. Our self-catering guest cottages are all named after different tortoises and our bed & breakfast rooms all boast names of different types of wines.

Property information

The farm derives its charming name from the legendary colony of tortoises that was found in the vlei in the 1800’s. The beautiful piece of land was dubbed Skilpadvlei and has been in the hands of the Joubert family since 1917. Today, fourth generation Willie Joubert upholds the proud family tradition of harnessing the rich potential of the land with a dedicated commitment to quality. Skilpadvlei is a fully operational 78ha farm. 55ha comprises of our lush vineyards, while 3ha is dedicated to our olive groves.

We are situated on the M12 about 9km outside Stellenbosch. We are part of the Stellenbosch Wine Route with lots of wine farms to visit and a wide variety of wines to experience.
