Beautiful, big wooden house suitable for a big family. Surrounded by nature (birds, buck, bunnies etc) and very peaceful. Close to the lake and Breton on sea. We really enjoyed our stay, thank you.

This is our happy place. We come to Knysna to escape from the city rat race. Brenton is 15km from town and it's truly worth it for the authentic Knysna experience of being in a log home overlooking indigenous forest. We spend time on the water and enjoy the slow peaceful pace of life in Lake Brenton. We love the abundance of nature here, especially the buck and birdlife which we view from the terrace. We go on walks to the jetty and spend time at Brenton on Sea beach which is less than a 10 min drive over the hill. We are lucky to have several good restaurants around so if we don't feel like cooking, we go out to Butterfly Blu or to The Bell Tavern and there are also a variety of great places in town - Ile de Pain and Freshline Fisheries being our favourites. We also frequent Sedgefield Wild Oats market on Saturdays and love to spend time at "Riverdeck Restaurant" halfway between Knysna and Sedgefield to experience a laid back Garden Route vibe with fresh delicious local comfort food. This is the life! We have limited complimentary internet, games, books, a smart TV and a variety of DVD's for a bit of light entertainment. We hope you love our happy place as much as we do.
We feel safe in Lake Brenton and it's wonderful for the children and grandparents to have freedom to roam around and walk down to the Jetty or through the forest by themselves without us having to worry about their safety. We love the outlook of the house and spend a lot of time on the deck enjoying the sunrise, sunsets and the abundant birdlife. There is nothing better than putting a bit of fruit out for the birds and sitting on the terrace reading, socializing or relaxing while Loeries and all sorts of birds encircle us overhead. It's also special to wake up to the sound of birds. There are still many bushbuck in the vicinity as Brenton is a protected Nature conservation area. Knysna has plenty to offer in terms of outdoor activities such as hiking, (Drupkelders Hiking Trail or Goukamma Nature reserve ) playing golf at Pezula, or Semola but we mostly enjoy the water related activities which the lagoon has to offer or swimming at Brenton on Sea. Kite surfing is a very popular in the area as well as Blokarting at Buffalo Bay. We also love to go to Knoetzie beach where the famous castles are. We hope you enjoy the tranquility which this special part of the Garden Route has to offer.
The community in Brenton on Lake is friendly and relaxed. Everyone helps one another and people have become particularly close after going through the ordeal of the 2017 fires together. The fire destroyed over 800 houses in Knysna and its' surrounds. We sadly lost our family home. Nothing could be saved except the wonderful memories, so although we have been coming to Lake Brenton for generations, this is not our original house. There was no question that we wanted to be back in the area and the neighborhood as soon as possible because it's the perfect place for spending a relaxed time together with family or friends, so we bought this old home just a few houses from our previous one and renovated it to be able to accommodate our needs.
