The Hiker Huts was exactly what I was looking for -- a cozy and clean room for a good price. I spent most of the day hiking, so it was a great place to come back to rest and sleep. The staff in the main building were very responsive and provided great recommendations for my stay. The location is excellent too and near to the PR pub.

The property is around 700 metres from Nanaimo Museum, 2 km from Nanaimo Bastion and 2.1 km from Newcastle Island Marine Park. The inn provides a sun terrace, a 24-hour front desk, and free WiFi is available. Very clean and modern. The room had vinyl plank floors rather than carpet which was a big win for the hotel, very nice.

Facing the beachfront in Alert Bay, Nimpkish Hotel features a garden and barbecue facilities. Free private parking is available and the inn also provides a shuttle service for guests who want to explore the surrounding area. What a fantastic place! Very warm welcome from Penba and his husband who are managing this beautiful hotel. We looooved the oceanfront outside patio which got everything to feel cozy and relaxed : hammock, comfy sofas, you name it! Very quiet, room and the whole hotel was sparkling! Penba is also a wonderful cook so we had dinner in the bright living room, gazing at the ocean while eating a super flavourful homemade palek paneer! I walked all along the seaside and up to see the world's tallest totem pole, and looked at all the Kwakwa̱ka̱ʼwakw art and history along the walk. So instructive and beautiful! Did not go to the cultural center as I arrived too late but it is a good excuse to come back and stay at the Nimpkish Hotel again!
