Amazing hotel and design. The room was close to perfection with all the comfort. Staff was incredibly helpful and professional. This place felt like the closest to perfection I ever had in hotellerie. Nowadays a lot of hotel have the 5 star but they are far away from the standard of a real one. This is a real one.

本宮町にあるジェイホッパーズ熊野湯峰 ゲストハウスは、熊野本宮大社から車で10分または熊野古道を通って徒歩70分です。 熊野古道沿いにあるゲストハウスで、日本最古の温泉の1つと言われている湯の峰温泉まで徒歩5分です。 温泉2つ、露天風呂1つを併設しています。 自転車レンタルを利用できます。関西国際空港まで車で2時間30分です。 This was the best value for money stay I had this trip. Highly recommend opting for dinner to be included with your stay. The steamed vegetables and meat with rice and soup was a sumptuous, healthy yet delicious meal especially at the end of a day's big hike. The dorm beds were comfortable, and it was a really nice luxury to get a private onsen experience (especially the outdoor one). Though there was no convenience store around, the hostel has a very good range of snacks, instant noodles, buns at good prices so you don't have to worry about not having food around.

The building itself was very beautiful and nicely decorated. The employees were very friendly and helpful and there was a nice area to sit and eat. There is a private bath that can be booked and costs a few yen, which was really nice to get into after a long day outside, we enjoyed it very much. The rooms are traditional, beautiful and kept exceptionally clean. There is a lot of space for belongings and luggage (though one must be careful not to hurt the tatami), a fridge, and a great bathroom which has everything one might need. Im very happy I got to experience sleeping on a traditional bed in a traditional room. I have to admit the mattress was a bit thin for my back so it wasn't too comfortable at first, my partner on the other hand thought its great so it really depends on preference. However, I asked if i can get an extra layer that I can put under to make it softer, and i got one! Afterwards i was sleeping like a baby, so if it seems a bit stiff at first ask for support :). We also got a lot of information on places in the area, including restaurants, everyone was doing their best to keep our stay as comfortable as possible. It truly is a great place and I have nothing I wish was different. The location is also great, close to the main "centre" and some public transport. It is a very good spot, quite relaxing and quiet considering its proximity to the famous streets. Walking down from Sannenzaka and the area, towards out hotel, is one of our very fond memories. A lot to do nearby, and great restaurants. Thank you for our stay, we had a wonderful time, and we hope we can be back sometime in the future.

The hotel is so beautiful and peaceful you almost don't want to leave. The staff were very welcoming and made us feel at home. We had the shabu shabu dinner and 2 Japanese style breakfasts which were cooked right in front of us by the lovely staff who we really enjoyed talking to. The location was only a 10 minute walk from Kyoto station but in a relatively quiet location, which was very much appreciated after the busy tourist spots of Kyoto. I couldn't recommend this hotel enough and we will definitely be returning if we are ever in Kyoto again.
