Lake House Rentals in Ascona

We spent New Year's eve at this property and had a fantastic experience! The location was incredibly peaceful and tranquil, with beautiful lake views nearby. We enjoyed some great hikes in the area (be sure to pack good hiking shoes). The property itself was spotless and had everything we needed for a comfortable stay. We were especially impressed with the festive decorations for Christmas and New Year's Eve - it really added a special touch! A big shout-out to our host, Nataliya. She was incredibly responsive and helpful throughout our stay. Overall, we had a fantastic experience and would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing getaway.

We had unique opprtunity to be first guest at Horatius home☺️ Thank you so much to Virginia for welcoming us. Everything was perfect, the most confortable bed, every detail is planned in advance. It’s a 2 floor villa, feels a lot of space. Breathtaking view to mountains from room, bathroom (!) and terrase! Kitchen is full equiped, there was everything for breakfast. Newborhood is very quet, near horses and in 10 min cows. For transport, we took taxi to get to city center, also can be bus, stop is near. Great escape from busy center but still be near.

Comfortable, quite spacious house with several centuries of history. Its last host was - recently deceased - Antonio, a well-known in Switzerland journalist, traveler, lover of history and the Far East. Hence, his house is the story of his passion and work - full of, among other things, wonderful books (in Italian). The house itself is a 15-minute drive (winding and quite narrow) from the nearest beach on Lake Lugano (Agno). A private garden is a super option. The appliances are not new, but they work, the house is cozy and on even hot days the temperature is ok, the thick walls do their job (no air conditioning). From the windows on the 2nd floor you have a great view of the nearby villages and the peak of Monte Lema so-called Malcantone, a valley gouged by a stream flowing through the bottom of a former glacier. A great place as a base for excursions to the remains of the mill (2 waterfalls!) or just to Monte Lema (a full day trip). The area is very quiet, on weekends the nearby church rings its bells only from 7 or 8 am, also no drama. Aranno itself is a tiny but charming town with few permanent residents, mostly elderly. Some people commute on weekends. However, it is still completely empty there. Coffee: Dolce Gusto. Garbage: segregation. Outdoor garbage cans with descriptions are on the 1st level of the parking lot. Directions and navigation: the operator will give you directions, but they are not super accurate. My directions: from the parking lot indicated by the operator, take the paved road directly to the church, then just before the church go left, up the diagonal paved road and walk to the back of the church. Then go up the stairs again and go under the canopy and continue straight ahead, having the city wall on your right. Your house with the steps and with the characteristic canopy over the entrance will be after about 100 meters, on the right. Good luck!
