Hotels near Great Wall of China - Mutianyu, Bohaisuo

The service at the Brickyard was exceptional. A special mention to Stanley who helped us with any question we had. Nothing was too much trouble for him and the team - he sorted our transfers to and from the wall, arranged our transport to our villa. We were in a 4 bedroom house the village which was very clean and spacious It was a 10-15 minute walk from the Brickyard. Recommend the Chinese restaurant in the village which was part of the Brickyard. Location was great with lovely views but what made our break was the super service.

Absolutely beautiful rooms, wonderful hospitality and absolutely stunning fresh food

We are two introverts from Australia, so we don't usually gravitate towards homestay or BnB style accommodation, however pickings are slim here in Mutianyu! So we selected this homestay and were so pleasantly surprised by our experience. Staff (this is a family run business) are kind and professional, offering friendly service that isn't overbearing. We were picked up from and dropped back to the Beijing Train Station in a clean and comfortable car for a very reasonable price (it's 90 minutes each way, not a short trip). The accommodation is already inside the scenic area so you can very much avoid the whole shuttle bus situation, and we were dropped off right to the base of the climb! We recommend trying to go in the afternoon, it was super quiet as we'd missed the tour busses and the crowds who mostly arrive in the morning. Most of our pictures have no other human beings in them! We had a delicious vegan dinner and breakfast provided with no fuss and lots of flavour. When paying for our room we also paid for our Wall tickets and add-ons which were purchased and organised on our behalf. Bonus adorable kittens and cats roaming outside the property 😍 The room had a beautiful view of the mountain and even a tiny peak of the wall. Bed was comfortable and the room was warm and clean. Plenty of water and snacks provided too. Very simple room with just the bed, one bedside table, a small seat with table, and a small bathroom, but that's all we needed.

Everything was great!!! We loved our rooms (super quiet, clan and well equipped, with hair dryer, slippers, shower gel, shampoo, towels, etc.) and the rest of the accomodation (well furnished and with a super nice rooftop where we had refreshing beers after climbing the Great Wall). Also the position of the Hotel is great: super close to cable car entrance (both the one leasing to watchtower n. 14 and the smaller one taking to watchtower n. 11). But the best part was having the chance to spend time with the owner’s family: she is a great chef and good english speaker (she cooked for us one of the best dinner we had in China and she gave us some suggestions for our visit to the Great Wall), her husband was super nice and drove us to the Airport after our stay (while listening to chinese music that we loved) and their 10years old child was so nice and spent some time with us during our little apetizer on the rooftop 😍 They were simply lovely and super kind and helpful ❤️ Thank you so much, hope we’ll keep in touch! Extremely friendly and helpful host who helped us with tickets for the Great Wall and finding a local restaurant. The room was spacious and comfortable with a lovely view from the terrace. We absolutely loved our stay and our first experience in China. Would highly recommend!

While the price was a little high compared to other places of this standard, you cannot beat it for its location and the serenity of the environment that it is situated within. The staff are great and do their best to make sure that you have what you need and when you need it. The views from the room, if it isn't foggy, are simply stunning and time seems to stand still when you are staying there. Stan kindly provided us with transport to and from the Great Wall and this helped to set up a wonderful day for us.
