Barceloneta Beach

This ancient theatre is the jewel in the Syracusan crown. It dates all the way back to the 5th century BC, and was used by the great playwright Aeschylus to stage some of his most beloved tragedies. Carved out of the rocky hillside, it used to hold up to 16,000 theatregoers on its semi-circular steps. Head down in spring to catch a classical play, and imagine the scenes all those years ago, as tragic actors prowled the stage and audiences wept and wailed at the heart-wrenching action.

Amazing walk way. Nice sandy beach.

Amazing walk way. Nice sandy beach. Amazing sunrise experience. It was very crowded. Toilet showers were very almost nonexistent. There were no deck chairs to rent. There were no cleaners to pick rubbish through the day.

The beach is adjacent to the city and was not very clean. It was crowded and we saw trash in the water and on the beach. The day after it rained, the beaches were closed due to unhealthy/hazardous conditions.

Consider renting a locker as the beach is fairly high traffic. There are small convenience stores across the street if you need tanning lotion. You may also find it much cheaper to buy your own beer and drinks there. Vendors will stroll buy offering mojitos, massages, and towels. Haggle with them! If you don't like the offer, find another vendor. Most require cash. Be warned, many pretend not to carry change and will instead offer you a "deal" to make up the difference with more drinks. Don't settle for a towel for more than 15 euros, possibly less if you have the patience.

    Great beach. Sometimes over crowded.

Great beach. Sometimes over crowded. Annoying massage ladies and men trying to sell anything. Never pay the price for what they are asking for. The big beach sheets they try to sell for 15€. Real price is 3€. Bargan down to 8€. Never buy their mojitos. Esp for 5€. They are worth 1€. No need to be afraid. Its not as bad as I'm writing but just these things can happen. Just enjoy the beach and watch your stuff. 👍🙂

Perfect location with a fantastic view over the full city. Close to the Barceloneta beach and harbor. Just 20 min walk to old town and 30 to sagrada Familia. Nice beds and good air condition. Towels included. And a fridge filled with some drinks. Good Wifi.

Safe central location between Gothic Quarter and vibrant Sant Sebastia and Barceloneta beaches. Rooms were modern and spacious. Staff always went out of their way to help with any queries. Our room had a balcony which was perfect to enjoy the stunning Barcelona weather and architecture.
