Wonderful old building which we visited several years ago...

Wonderful old building which we visited several years ago just for a special old fashioned music evening event, sort of medieval theme. So we only visited part of this huge property. Unfortunately current entrance price is out of my price range as on tiny pension, although apparently it allows you to visit unlimited times for a year after purchase. so I suppose good value.

We were met on arrival and shown around the site. A lot of thought has gone into the site with everything you need for a unique glamping experience that is not dependent on the weather. There is immediate, traffic free walking access to the countryside or Stamford and nearby Burghley house. The wood fired hot-tub was lovely but we were a bit overzealous on the first night and had to wait for it to cool down.

Great property right in the town with a dining area and balcony that had tree top and roof top views right across Stamford to Burghley House. Two bedrooms upstairs with Jack and Jill bathroom and second shower room downstairs. Well appointed kitchen. Garden with bbq and table/chairs/bench at lower level. There was a garage - our cars were too big to fit in but we were allowed to park at sister property a short walk away which was perfect.

We really enjoyed our visit to Stamford and stay at The George, a lovely historic property well positioned in easy walking distance to the town centre and a couple of miles from Burghley House. Probably the key feature that elevated the stay to more than just a lovely hotel were the staff, always available and keen to look after you with genuine warmth.

Great location, right in the town centre. We stayed a Friday and Saturday night, but weren't disturbed by any early hours revelry! The apartment had everything we needed for our stay with the added bonus of a private parking space, so great for coming and going with the car when we drove out to Burghley House and Rutland Water. Highly recommended!
