The real St Mary's Close.
The real St Mary's Close. Amazing "Museum" which is actually a series of uncovered streets that were originally built beneath the current road, below the town. When the plague hit, the poor were entombed there. The history of it was mind-boggling. A must to see. The Mile itself just great to walk, stop, sip a drink or two. St. Giles on the Royal Mile is several hundreds of years old. My family attended a pipe organ recital there one evening. What an awesome and thunderous sound that huge organ made, but could produce the most delicate melodies as well.
