Bryggen

These colourful wooden houses line the harbour and form one of the most iconic districts in Bergen. A physical reminder of the trade conducted here from the 14th to mid-16th century, the bright white, yellow, red and blue wooden buildings are a beautiful contrast to the icy North Sea. Take some photos and then explore the little alleyways, where you’ll find quirky galleries and cute cafés.

Loved walking through this old area of Bergen and seeing these historical buildings. Worth taking the time to do some homework, or a tour, on the history of these buildings. This way you'll appreciate what you're seeing more.

Classic area with fish market and the multi-colored buildings and old town. Very touristy. Would recommend going early in the morning or evening but not eating in this area as the prices are generally inflated.

Many nice shops to find some special items. Make sure to go down the side streets and go in and out of the special shops hidden off the Main Street. Everyone was so helpful and kind to us. It was very rainy the day we were there but still nice.

    1. Walk through the fish market 2. Explore the alley ways on the foreshore 3. Don’t bother with the Bergen Card. You will never see enough to return the card cost 4. Walk everywhere as there is no effective public transport.

The hotel is in an incredible location on the harbour in the beautiful historic district of Bryggen, with lots to see within walking distance. The lounge and dining areas of the hotel are very comfortable. Our room was great with plenty of space. The included breakfast and light dinner was a bonus. We enjoyed going to the top of building’s tower and enjoying the view.

The hotel is conveniently located and is just opposite the seafood market and Bryggen. A very charming and lively town indeed. The staff at the breakfast restaurant is very accommodating even though we arrived before 7am as we need to catch an early train ride. Thank you.

We loved everything, I highly recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a proper experience in Bergen. Staff super nice, everybody speaks english very well and is always willing to help. Beds are very comfortable, breakfast was delicious and we also had croissants and coffee on the house whenever we wanted/needed. Last but not least, location is in the center of Bryggen, 2 minutes walking from Fish Market, you couldn't possibly want more from a hotel.

The property (Not Home Hotel Bryggen) was fantastic but not our first choice - they moved us to another hotel against our wishes and while the location was ok, it wasn’t where we initially booked or wanted to stay!!!

The overall room cleanliness - excellent. The bed, bed linen, and pillows were just the most comfortable we have ever experienced (no exaggeration!). The breadth of offerings and the quality of breakfast was also excellent. While the large breakfasting room could at times be busy, the food offerings were replenished very quickly when required. Finally, the hotel location is excellent being just a minutes walk from Bryggen.

The perfect location to explore Bergen. Literally around the corner to the fascinating historic buildings of Bryggen. A modern hotel with all the amenities you need for a comfortable stay. Lovely big bathroom, and the room had all the amenities you often don't find in Norway - fridge, kettle, iron, etc.

Great self-contained apartment in this wonderful hotel. Location excellent for easy access to Torget, Bryggen and Bergen city centre on foot. Excellent breakfast. Free waffles in the late afternoon was a definite bonus! Staff were very friendly and helpful. We were able to store our suitcases in the luggage room after we checked out, before travelling to the airport later in the day.

The historic Bryggen sector, remnant of an active Hansa-league international trade dating from the 1300s, gives you the feel of what the city was like in the 1700s. Nothing else like it.
