WE took the escalators up from Rossio, but it would have been better to go by tram. The castle is fascinating, but some of the stairs onto the ramparts are a bit scary! We jumped the queue with our Lisboa passes, they were definitely worth the money as they included free or discounted entry to many attractions, as well as public transport. i cabbed up, and walked down. Lovely castle, i did the online (on my phone) audio guide as the english guide never showed up. Not sure what to say about that. The security literally would not go get help. Not enough workers around to help, but i figured it out. Peacocks are up there, so beautiful to see. The walk down is very charming and has plenty of shops and restaurants to eat or get a coffee. Highly recommend.Guest review byLynnUnited States - 10.0

This is a lovely spot with a fantastic view. The ruins are not particularly well preserved. There is little signage so you will need the audio tour if you want to know more.
