Ideal for nature-lovers looking for a self-sufficient getaway, lodges are fully furnished and self-catered. Usually made of wood and surrounded by forests or mountains, lodges can be part of a group or a single unit. More remote than holiday homes, lodges are popular for safari trips.

I like the little personal touches around the lodge like the spa bath, homemade bread and self harvested honey for breakfast. we also definitely enjoyed the adventurous rainforest trails and swimming holes around the lodge. It was a world away from the busy city life. A very therapeutic place for retreat.

Everything is already written - it's a real jewel and we are totally happy that we stayed three nights there. All the surrounding grounds are really impressive! So please take your time to do also some walks in the wonderful nature around the Lodge and enjoy their little extras.

Fabulous location, magnificent lodge in the middle of the forest. The breakfast prepared by Debbie was perfect. Our best stay after our 2 first weeks in NZ.

Wairua Lodge was just wonderful. It was tranquil, beautiful (surrounded by bushland) and peaceful. Very calming place. It has lovely fresh watering swimming holes to have a dip in, private bath looking out to the bush and has a spa pool and firepit. The hosts were great and welcoming. Breakfast was great, all homemade from the bread, honey and jam. The studio room and bathroom was lovely, clean and comfortable. Thank you just what we needed and we will definitely be coming back. We totally recommend the lodge :)

This lodge is situated in a unique beautiful setting. There are so many extras - forest trails, swimming in the river and spots to sit and unwind hidden throughout the property. Just getting to the lodge is an adventure

The Wairua Lodge has to be seen to be believed. A oasis of calm among pristine rainforest and gardens. The rooms are very comfortable and tastefully decorated, breakfast was excellent with home made bread, jams and homey. Nothing too much trouble for our lovely host Debbie and we thoroughly enjoyed the forest trails and quirky facilities, especially the outdoor bath! Our only regret is only staying for two nights with so much to do and see in the area. We thoroughly recommend the lodge as a great location for exploring Coromondel.
