We liked everything about Hares Rest. The location is perfect and the Lodge is very comfortable and clean with a fabulous vista surrounded by beautiful gardens. Alli and Glyn, the hosts were friendly, welcoming and helpful and they provided us with everything we needed for a perfect stay. The breakfast hamper Alli provided was very special and included her fresh homemade bread and granola, locally sourced fresh produce and her homemade treats, were delicious. The tranquil and relaxing environment of the lodge was fabulous and is near to Lake Taupo and a number of attractions in the surrounding area.I would not hesitate in recommending Hares Rest.

We had a fantastic stay...if I can give it 6 stars & more, I would! What made the place so special is the wonderful & warm hospitality of hosts Rob & Karen, they made us feel so welcome the moment we arrived. The Kiwi Suite (that we booked) was perfect in every way, fully equipped with all the necc amenities and had amazing views of Lake Taupo. Very quiet and super comfy beds. Breakfast simply yummy & prepared to perfection by Karen. A wonderful home that has so much character to it because of the exquisite collection of artwork & artifacts accumulated by Rob over the years. A must stay for anyone looking for THE perfect place.

Tongariro Lodge is located in 22 acres of secluded grounds, surrounded by a beautiful garden landscape and along the banks of Tongariro River. The wonderful team generously upgraded us as it was our anniversary and we loved the extra space, cosy feel and comfy couches in the cabin they gave us! It's a perfect location for a special getaway.
