Katsuura
Rooms at Nakanoshima Hotel have a traditional decor and come with both Western-style and Japanese-style seating areas. Guests sleep on futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. All rooms are air-conditioned and include an LCD TV, an en suite bathroom, green tea and Yukata robes. This hotel is like paradise! They have a private ferry to shuttle you to the hotel and when you get there, the staff are on top of assisting you with bags and anything. Rooms are a bit of a walk from the lobby (around 2-5 mins) but once you get there, you're greeted with an amazing traditional spacious tatami room and a breath-taking view. Their onsen is great too, with a huge selection of shampoo and conditioner, spacious locker area and bathing area, and an outdoor onsen as an option. Their package breakfast and dinner are also amazing, where you'll experience very traditional Japanese food. You can have a morning walk on their mountaintop, which you can access through the roof deck. There's a small shrine also to pay respects and you can watch dolphins jump around the ocean while fishing with a rented fishing rod.

The cafe is also great - they serve excellent coffee, delicious sandwiches, and the donuts were honestly some of the best we’ve ever had! Katsuragi
Located in Katsuragi, Sanso Amanosato features 5-star accommodation with private balconies. A hot spring bath is available for guests, along with an open-air bath. The ryokan also provides free WiFi, free private parking and facilities for disabled guests. This was an exceptional property in every way. Though the rooms are European style, the singular cabins, the passage ways, the main building, all have a very Japanese architectural feel. This is located about 20km from Koyasan, and sits among rice paddies just a bike ride from a local shrine. It gives you the chance to glide along on deserted roads and happen upon a major pilgramage shrine along the Kumano Kodo. The Kaiseki meal was superb, with about 10 courses of sublime cooking and service of the highest order. The staff may have been a little nervous as we don't speak Japanese, but they fared well. The presentation was, as is the Japanese way, giving a nod to the autumn season with fall flowers and leaves presenting the food as art. The Onsen were private so that couples can enjoy with eachother, three possibilities were available, with small gardens outside each. Our suite also had a huge round tub to enjoy as well. The bathroom was of exceptional design. We had a hedge of blooming flowers outside the porch doors where beautiful and unusual butterflies were feeding.

The views and condition of the onsen pool were exquisite and created a relaxing yet exciting atmosphere. Dinner at Nagi was delicious. The beef especially and the sashimi. The location is superb. It located in the city center and access to the station, restaurants, etc. is super easy. The breakfast buffet is relatively simple but at least its value is more than the cost of 500 yen.
What an amazing stay! We stayed in "Ruri", a Japanese-Western style room and it was fabulous. It had the most stunning bathroom that we have ever had in our Japan travels. Top quality fittings and amenities, it was so luxurious. Breakfast and dinner in our room were both delicious and generous. We attended the meditation and Fire Ritual, which were both such special experiences. Our stay in Koyasan and at the Eko-in was one of the highlights of our trip,
The view from the room is superb!!, we stayed at Japanese tatami room type. The room was spacious and felt like ninja house where so many doors connected to different small rooms. We got buffet both dinner and breakfast. I would recommend you to try dinner, it was superb. Breakdowns is ok but nothing special. The staff were amazing!! :)
I loveeeee it People here are amazing :) Food here is also great! Facilities are just superb Everything well prepared I don't have enough to just say that
Stayed in the Luxury Suite with garden view as part of a joint honeymoon/birthday treat and wow, what an experience! The suite was absolutely stunning, the food was beautifully presented and getting to experience the meditation and fire ritual made this a unique stay, and one we will both treasure for years to come.
It's a temple stay not a luxury hotel but a wonderful experience to share in the lives of the monks
Comfortable, a very good place to rest especially after a hike. I will stay here again. All the staff are friendly and very helpful! Special shout out to Thiri Win! You were superb! 👍🏻
This was an amazing experience for us personally. A very special place that words cannot describe… you have to go there to feel the emotion. The Shojin Ryori is worth a Michelin Star. We had the privilege of staying in the recently created luxury suite, it was breathtaking. Please if you go make sure you participate in the morning and fire services as well as the meditation - it is an incredible experience. We are grateful for this opportunity given to us.
The deluxe room I stayed in was beautiful. The cleanliness and beauty of the room was outstanding. The inclusive experience of the evening meditation and chanting and morning prayers with the monks was special. The vegetarian dinner and breakfast was among the best food I have ever had, prepared and served with such care and beauty.
