Nice place to stay on a road trip around Basilicata. It is the floor part of a house from the old quarter of Garaguso, set on a narrow street. I had a Fiat Panda and I was able to get right to the building and to park it, but a bigger car should be parked in the central square, 200 m away. The property was clean and it had all the necessary amenities, it looks far better then in the photos, it is a real house, not the standard "set" for appartment rentals. The teracce is indeed impressive, with view to the valley and the country side hills. The owner, Amelia, lives next door and she is very nice and helpfull.

The Residenza is a very nice place to stay. The owner is more than heplful. Since we arrived on our bikes on Monday where all the restaurants are closed, he made sure that we get enough to eat at a cousins place. Thank you again!

The house was very clean and had everything we needed. It was very peaceful and the view in the morning was a lovely thing to wake up to. We enjoyed having a BBQ in the evenings and watching the falcons circle over the hillside. It only took 30 minutes to reach both the beach and Matera from the house which was very convenient. Pomarico is a small, authentic, Italian town. The locals were very friendly and accomodating despite the language barrier, people were patient and almost happy for us to attempt to speak Italian with the help of Google Translate. The local shops had amazing local produce. I had some of the best bread I have ever eaten from the bakery and the salsiccia pezzente from the butcher was fantastic. I only knew to try all of these things because our host, Antonello was so helpful and full of local knowledge. Every morning he would come and make us fresh cappucinos and provide us with breakfast. He has a great sense of humour and would give me Italian lessons and I would help to improve his (already very good) English. His wife, Stefania visited us a few times and together, they were wonderful hosts. Friendly, funny, helpful and patient. What more can you ask for? We both really enjoyed our stay here and will return in the future. Grazie mille, professore Atonello ;-)

Great location with a great view. Fireplace with more than enough firewood. Breakfast at the tent. Super welcoming owner. For dinner I'd recommend getting some nice Italian sausage and cheese board as takeaway somewhere and eating at the tent with a bottle of wine!

“Io sono qui per voi” - this is the motto of our host ! A very very energic, lively, strong woman who loves her area and wants to share the beauty of the region with you. Everything you ask her will not remain unsolved. The house is a combination of new and old, like the whole region, but every thing you will see has a special meaning, just look for it. You will find in house everything you need, just ask the host. I suggest renting the whole house.The parking is on the street in front of the house but it is in a safe area with ok neighbors. Here you find another Italy, quieter, cleaner and simple and respectful people. Thank you Filomena, thank you for all !
